Dr. Steve Tutty
Licensed clinical psychologist specializing in child, forensic and neuropsychology.
Dr. Steve Tutty has more than 25 years of direct clinical and forensic practice, and more than 20 years of teaching, research and publishing in clinical psychology across multiple US states. He has evaluated and treated more than 2,300 children and adolescents with complex neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, ADHD and twice-exceptional (2E) profiles, and more than 535 adults involved in personal injury litigation, often after traumatic brain injury.
Before founding his evaluation practice, he spent a decade counseling children, mostly with ADHD and autism, and adults with depression. That early, hands-on clinical work shaped a grounded, practical approach to assessment, which he then built on with advanced clinical training.
Research
Dr. Tutty has published peer-reviewed randomized clinical trials in ADHD, with pediatrician Harlan Gephart, MD, and in depression, with principal investigator Greg Simon, MD. That depression work, starting in 2000, was among the earliest telehealth programs in behavioral health. His research has appeared in JAMA, the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, the Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, Behavior Therapy and General Hospital Psychiatry. He is a National Health Scholar and scientist-practitioner. See the publications →
Why Aspyre
His mission is the practice's name: help children identify and unlock their cognitive, academic and psychological strengths and chart a path to their full potential, and give injured adults an evidence-based pathway to recover as close as possible to who they were before.
New York
Dr. Tutty has strong roots on the East Coast. After years of visiting his adult children, who moved to New York for college, the city became home. He now serves New Yorkers from the practice's office at 353 Lexington Avenue, and in his spare time hikes along the Hudson and in the Catskills.
