Autism evaluations in Manhattan
A careful, comprehensive look at social communication, behavior, learning and emotion, so you know whether autism explains what you're seeing and what will help.
Autism looks different in every child. Some children are diagnosed early; others, often bright, verbal or twice-exceptional children, are missed for years or misdiagnosed with ADHD, anxiety or a behavior problem. Dr. Tutty spent a decade counseling children, mostly with ADHD and autism, before building his evaluation practice, and has evaluated more than 2,300 children and teens with complex neurodevelopmental profiles.
What an autism evaluation looks at
- Social communication and relationships
- Restricted interests, routines and sensory differences
- Cognitive and language profile
- Attention and executive functioning, since autism and ADHD often occur together
- Anxiety, mood and emotional regulation
- Learning and academic skills
Why a full neuropsychological picture matters
A diagnosis on its own rarely tells a school or family what to do on Monday morning. Because the evaluation covers cognition, academics and emotional functioning together, the report explains how your child learns best and recommends specific supports for home, school (including 504 plans and IEPs) and therapy.
Twice-exceptional (2E) children
Gifted children with autism or ADHD often compensate well enough to be overlooked, until the work gets harder. We evaluate 2E profiles regularly and write reports that address both the strengths and the challenges.
